Short version: Democracy Snag keeps as little as it can, and nothing that says who you are unless you type it in.
On your device
Your bank, unlocked Aussies, best scores, sound setting and which tips you've seen are saved in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device. Clear your browser data to wipe them.
The leaderboard
Only if you post a score, we store the name you type, the state you pick, your score, which election you reached, which Aussie you played and when, filed under an anonymous ID so you can only hold one spot. Everyone can see the name, state and score. These live in Supabase, our database host. To stop spam we keep a scrambled (hashed) version of your internet address for up to a day; we never store the address itself. Don't use your real name if you'd rather not. Names that are slurs or abuse are blocked. Ask us and we'll remove an entry.
Shouting a snag
Tips go through Buy Me a Coffee, which handles the payment under its own privacy policy. We never see your card. If you leave a name there, we may list it under "Legends who shouted a snag".
Ads
The game shows ads to pay its way, served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies or similar to show ads, measure them and, where you allow it, personalise them based on your visits here and to other sites. You can turn off personalised ads at adssettings.google.com, and learn how Google uses data at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. Visitors in Europe and the UK are asked for consent first.
Kids
It's a general-audience game. We don't knowingly collect anything from children beyond a leaderboard name they choose to post.
Visitor stats
We count visits with Cloudflare Web Analytics, which uses no cookies and doesn't track you across sites. It tells us things like how many people played, which country and what kind of device.
